 Our Mixed Freight Train Pack contains one of each:

It is a great way to build a variety of collections quickly and make your collection or layout more interesting. It is also a perfect way to 'test' out our freight wagons before you decide to purchase more of one kind. Not to mention, this collection comes at great savings over purchasing them individually.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • This item is on pre-order now: The models are expected to be delivered approximately three (3) months from the time of placing the order; subject to the availability of raw materials and supplies.
  • All images are for display purposes only. The actual colour and details may vary in the final model.
  • NOT A TOY and is meant for adult collectors only.
  • Minor assembly required by the customer: To protect the fine details from damage during shipping, some separately added details will be sent unassembled and will require the customer to add them to the model. These would be very minor assembly and all you would need is a pair of tweezers and some super glue.
  • Expect 3D printing artifacts: These are 3D printed models and despite our best efforts it is impossible to avoid some print lines and 3D printing artifacts. The details parts are also expected to be fragile and are not expected to survive rough handling. These are NOT considered defects.
  • Limited Warranty: Products have a limited warranty against manufacturing defects only. A manufacturing defect is considered a defect that severely impairs the functionality of the model and one that has gone undetected in our quality check process BEFORE the model is shipped to the customer. For such defects, we will provide a free replacement of the impaired part(s) of the model subject to the customer providing sufficient evidence against the claim. For any shipping-related damage and subsequent issue handling the customer's claim will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please refer to our shipping and return policy for further details.
  • PMW reserves the right to make any design and paint scheme changes as necessary for the viability of the production.

What in included in the 'KIT' ?

The DIY kits have 3D printed components. Includes all detail parts and appropriate decals and jigs where applicable. Assembly and painting required.

Can I motorise the locos?

Some of the locos are designed in a way that can be made totally operable. For any particular locomotive, details are provided in the product description.

You have the flexibility to make a display model or a motorized model depending on your skills to convert them into a running model. 

We suggest using the recommended motors for the optimum performance.

 

What sort of wheels do I get?

By default, all of the kits except some of the locomotives contain 3D printed wheels. For the locomotives that are meant to be motorised, no wheels are included in the regular kit.

For the rolling stock, 3D printed wheels are included, however, please note that the 3D printed wheels are good for display only and will not be suitable for running the models in a layout. Please use suitable plastic or metal wheelsets available to you. Wherever possible we have provided our recommendations in the product description.

Who this is for?

The kit is the most reasonable offering with a lot of flexibility for customisation - for the modeler in you, this might be the right way to start your Indian Railways model making journey.

Prototype accuracy, paint and details are perfect

Feedback/Observation:

1) Bogie attachment with RTR body is poor quality with all RTR
It's just plastic riveted. With two RTRs, two Bogies came off after a few operations.

It should have metal/steel (Nut Flat Head Threaded) rivet so the whole bogie assembly can be attached with a small screw and so replacement can also be easy when needed.

2) Wheels are not running/rolling smoothly with all RTR, and mainly with BOBYN
I tested with downhill/decline railroad and it does not auto roll to downward (elevation from 0 - 1" within 24").

3) The wheels falling out of the side frame (not often) but seeing poor quality of axle connected to side frame- BRN/BRNA

4) Wagons to derail: BOBYN, BVZI ,
Kadee couplers seems to be good but its attachment with RTR body creates obstacle, limits the bogie/truck's circular movement on curved tracks and they cause the wagons to derail when travelling around a curve (22", 18" radius) railroad at even low speed.

Have bogie/truck and Kadee coupler position in such a way that they should not create any obstacle to bogie/truck circular movements that can cause displacement (up/down,left,right) of bogie.

5) How one can replace Kadee couplers? look like it is permanently fixed/attached/glued.

6) Seeing all RTR light weight, it advisable to have some weight added so stays on the tracks

7) As per the product images on website, wheel's rim are not painted with white color - FYI

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Many of these issues were identified, some are already corrected and some we are working on. Since we are using 3D printing as our main fabrication method, a few things are still in experimentational stage. One of the issues with 3D printing is that it doesn't take screws kindly like in case of an injection moulded part and there are chances of screws 'cracking' a 3D printed housing. The team is working on finding alternate solutions for the bogie attachments and you will see upgrades in our next release. Detailed responses to your observations are in-line.

Made a mistake

I bought these models with minimal expectations about quality and precision. The wheels fall out of the bogies. Couplers are not fluid - they cause the wagons to derail. 2 WAP7 locos were purchased. There is no running number one of the locos purchased. Overall an avoidable experience. I own a sizeable number of HO scale trains (100+) and have the requisite background to make a comprehensive assessment. I buy old items on eBay and restore them. These models just add an Indian presence on my layout and collection......

We're sorry to hear about your poor experience. We use Kadee couplers and they are installed in the Kadee provided draft gearboxes and we have had no complains about their working until now. We would happily take a look at the issue if you please provide us with more details of what is wrong - you can write to us at info@precisionmodelworks.co.in. We do provide limited warranty for our products against manufacturing defects as long as you can return the product without any damage to us in its original packaging.

The WAP7 in a electric train pack is a 'generic' model - it was clearly mentioned in the product description that there will be no shed name and running number for this model, I believe in this case it is a misaligned expectation.
